My name is Sonya, and I live in Abbottabad, Pakistan. For the past 11 years, I have been rescuing and caring for stray animals who have no one else to turn to. What began as small acts of compassion has grown into a full-time responsibility and a deeply personal mission.
Over these years, I have rescued more than 500 animals. Some were treated and released through TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release), some were successfully adopted into loving homes, and many, especially the vulnerable and injured were given permanent shelter with me. Today, I have 27 cats living under my care in a home-based shelter. Each one of them has a story of survival, and each one depends on me entirely for food, safety, and medical care.
In addition to this, I also feed stray dogs in a remote area approximately 13 kilometers outside the city, twice every month. These animals live in harsh conditions with little to no access to food, and this effort helps them survive.
For many years, I managed these responsibilities through personal sacrifices and the support of a few kind individuals. However, since 2021, the cost of animal care, including food, medication, and veterinary treatment has increased drastically. What was once manageable has now become overwhelming.
In 2023, I was forced to sell my car to keep the shelter running. It was a difficult but necessary decision to ensure that my animals would not go without food or care. Despite this sacrifice, the financial situation has continued to worsen. While some generous supporters stood by me during difficult times, many are no longer able to continue their support due to their own limitations.
Today, I am facing a serious financial crisis. Providing daily food, medical care, and basic necessities for 27 cats, along with continuing the feeding of stray dogs, has become extremely challenging.
This is why I am reaching out for help.
I am humbly requesting support to sustain this shelter and prevent the suffering or loss of these innocent lives. I have estimated approximately one year’s worth of expenses for cat food and medical care to ensure stability and continuity.
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a real difference. It becomes a meal for a hungry animal, treatment for the sick, and hope for those who have already endured so much.
I understand that everyone has their own responsibilities, so I simply ask you to contribute whatever you can comfortably give. Your kindness, empathy, and support can help us continue this journey of saving lives.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to our story and for standing with us in compassion.
