My name is Hurria. I have been given the chance to take part in the Asian Games. This is the biggest moment of my life.
Sports is not just my career it is my life, my passion. But today, I am standing at the door of my dream without the means to walk through it.
My father is a tailor. He used to run a small shop on rent, but we lost it five months ago. Since then, life has become very hard for us. My father always treated me like his son. He supported every dream I had and fulfilled every wish he could. But now, he holds my hand and says, “Keep faith in Allah. He will help you. He gave you this chance, and He will create the way for you.”
I am the only support for my parents. My younger brother is small and often sick he has breathing problems. The weight on my family is heavy.
To reach this point, I have faced so many hurdles. I fought, I trained, I refused to give up. And now, when I finally have the honor to represent my country, I do not have the resources to get there.
All I want is to make my father proud. I want him to say with his head held high, “My daughter won a medal for Pakistan.” I am a daughter of this soil. I want to play for Pakistan. I want to wear its colors.
Please, try to understand my feelings. Hear my voice. If you support me, you will not just be helping one athlete you will be lifting an entire family, and giving Pakistan another fighter on the world stage.
I will be forever thankful for your help and support.
With respect and hope,
Hurria
