Imagine living in total darkness simply because you cannot afford a 15-minute surgical procedure.
Across Pakistan, millions of men, women, and young children wake up each day to a world veiled by milky white cataracts, advanced glaucoma, and untreated ocular diseases. For an impoverished laborer, losing sight means losing an income. For a grandmother, it means losing the faces of her grandchildren. For a child, it means an abrupt end to education and independence.
At Dr. Aisha Health Vision Hospital in Bahadurabad, Karachi, we believe visual health is a universal human right. Since 1982, our hospital has served communities with dignity and medical care. Since 2015, our specialized Eye Care Unit has performed thousands of free, life-changing eye operations for Pakistan’s poorest families.
Today, our surgical mission faces an abrupt standstill.
Our solitary Phacoemulsification (Phaco) machine has completely broken down.
After years of non-stop daily usage in our operating rooms and across remote mobile eye camps, the internal ultrasonic engine and precision fluidics systems have suffered catastrophic mechanical failure. Biomedical engineers have confirmed that the machine is non-repairable.
Without this vital technology, our stitchless, rapid cataract surgeries cannot take place. Needy patients who walked to us in anticipation of receiving their sight back are returning home in darkness.
We urgently need PKR 1,050,000 (approximately USD 3,800) to acquire a replacement clinical-grade Phacoemulsification console, handpieces, and surge-protected voltage calibration units.
Every single rupee you donate goes directly toward restoring eyesight.
