I have never seen Oxford with my own eyes. But in my mind, I have walked its halls a thousand times.
Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of studying at the University of Oxford. Not for a degree. Not for a title. But because I believe that the best education in the world can turn an ordinary person from Pakistan into someone who can solve real problems like poverty, corruption, and injustice.
I come from a modest family. We are not rich. But I worked hard in school, read every book I could find. Over two years, I saved some money. It was not a fortune but it was mine.
That money was supposed to pay for:
My Oxford application fee (£75 / ~PKR 26,000)
My IELTS test (PKR 55,000)
A little left over for documents and courier.
It was not a luxury. It was the bare minimum to even try.
Last month, someone committed fraud against me. I trusted them. They tricked me into giving access to my account, and within minutes, all 70,000 rupees were gone. Every last rupee. I went to the bank. I filed a complaint but the money is gone, and recovery is not likely.
Meanwhile, Oxford’s application deadlines are closing. I cannot ask my parents for more money, they have nothing left to give. I have no savings or safety net. I sit at my desk every night, staring at the Oxford website, and I cry. Not because I am weak. But because I worked so hard, and now I cannot even afford the application fee.
I am not asking for a scholarship. I am not asking for pity. I am asking for a second chance, a small one.
If kind strangers help me raise just enough to:
Pay the Oxford application fee (£75)
Register for the IELTS exam (PKR 55,000)
Cover courier and document costs (PKR 5,000)
…then I can apply. Once I get an offer (if God wills it), Oxford has generous scholarships and financial aid for international students from low-income countries. I will apply for everything. I only need help to reach the starting line.
Every single rupee will be used only for application, tests, and related expenses. I will share screenshots of my application submission, test registration, and any university correspondence.
Donate any amount: PKR 10, PKR 100, PKR 1,000. It all adds up.
Share this campaign with your friends, family, and on social media.
And to everyone reading this:
You could be the reason a Pakistani student’s childhood dream comes true. You could be the person who says, “I will not let a thief decide your future.”
I lost money but I refuse to lose my dream.
With gratitude and hope,
A student who still believes in Oxford
